A papal bull gave Leuven its university in 1425. One of the first in Europe. Over those 600 years, town and university grew into a world-renowned centre of knowledge and science. With pioneering research in many fields, just like pioneers Andreas Vesalius, Gerardus Mercator, Desiderius Erasmus and Georges Lemaître did in their time.

This year is one big year of celebration for KU Leuven, for six centuries full of wonder and curiosity. The perfect time to go exploring in and around the city!
